Research interests

My PhD research looks at the creation and use of parish libraries in early modern England, placing particular emphasis on how the middling classes of people read books. In order to carry out this research, I use marginalia and annotation to discover what, how and, hopefully, where people were reading. More generally, I am interested in the Tudor period as a whole, and particularly the Reformation.
