The Department of English at the University of Delaware invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Environmental Humanities. We seek candidates, grounded in their primary literary or rhetorical disciplines, who can add to our strengths in the Environmental Humanities while also contributing to our vision of a deeply integrated and interdisciplinary department. Applicants should be able to guarantee Ph.D. in hand by August 2019.
We welcome applicants with a strong research agenda in the environmental humanities, broadly construed. All research approaches are welcome, including those related to environmental justice, the energy humanities, ecocriticism, indigenous and postcolonial environmentalisms, ecofeminism, queer ecologies, and animal studies. Successful applicants will be able to contribute as teachers and mentors in our graduate and undergraduate programs and will help the university continue to build on its position as a leading destination for interdisciplinary research and teaching. The position carries with it the expectation for collaboration with interdisciplinary institutions and departments on campus (including the Delaware Environmental Institute; the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources; the College of Earth Ocean and Environment; Women & Gender Studies, Africana Studies; and the Center for Material Culture Studies), and numerous other archives and resources at the university and in the region. The position includes a competitive salary, a 2-2 teaching load, and excellent benefits.
